In the Dharma Project
video, we are shown that this is station 3 of 6. Does that mean there are 5 other underground hatches? Are there people living in those as well, entering codes?
And while I'm asking questions, what is up with the shark from last week's episode having the Dharma Project logo branded on it's rear? So strange.
I've been hooked on
Lost since watching the final episode from last season. The coolest thing about it is all the strange inter-connections between the characters and the events that unfold. As of today, I'm gonna write about each episode and my thoughts on what's going on. Let's start with the most recent episode.
Jack goes down the recently discovered hatch to look for Locke and Kate, who have been captured by some mysterious underground dweller named Desmond. While Jack has been greeted by Desmond and his gun, Kate manages to escape and find the weapons storage room. She grabs a shotgun and uses it to knock out Desmond and free Jack and Locke. But while Desmond falls, his gun goes off and shoots an old computer that looks like an Apple II. He starts freaking out because the computer is the reason for his being in the hatch. He's supposed to enter a code every 108 minutes, or else, according to him, the world will come to an end. One strange twist here is that the code is the same mysterious numbers that Hurley used to win the lottery. The same numbers Hurley thinks are cursed. The same numbers that were engraved on the entrance to the hatch. One other weird thing is that Jack had met Desmond before. In the episode with the flashback to Jack's wife, Desmond is running in the same stadium, and has a conversation with Jack. Coincidence?
Anyway, I have a real problem with the direction this story is going. Enter a code or the world will end. That is so stupid! I'm not into this story line at all, and I really hope it gets better quick.
The other story line follows Michael, Sawyer, and Jin as they are captured. Who captures them? The island is supposed to be deserted, but the implication is that these are the "others" that everyone has heard about and is scared of. There is almost no development with this story line, except for some woman getting thrown in with them to find out who they are. This woman was on the same flight, as seen in a flashback where she talks to Jack at the airport, but now it appears she is working with the "others".
All in all, I have been pretty disappointed with the last 2 episodes. The plot is just getting way out there in the hatch, and there is hardly any forward movement with the guys on the boat. Still, I am hooked on this show and eagerly anticipate the next episode where they will show Jin speaking English!
I found a website about the organization that is mentioned in the video Jack and Locke watch in the hatch. There is an invisible link on the Active Projects page after all the other projects, which shows the Dharma Project video they watched.
Here it is.
